Every summer, the Volunteers in Partnership (VIP) office on DU's campus hosts a summer camp designed for closing the higher education gap for low income, students of color, and other disenfranchised students. I delivered a keynote to 70-80 rising Juniors from a host of partner schools on Identity and the Colorado Paradox.
Thornton Fractional High School District #215 (TF215)
Lancing, Ilinois
Dr. Griffen partners with Thornton Fractional to deliver a five-part series: "Implicit Bias: What is it? How to identify it? How to overcome it?" Each session builds upon the one prior, ensuring that participants will not only gain a working knowledge of key theories and concepts, but will also have clear applications for daily interaction with culturally different adult and students. in their work settings. Sessions offer a unique lens to training and facilitation - scholarship and research lens combined with a practitioner lens - and includes strategies for the adult learner as well as pedagogical and curriculum strategies for dismantling Implicit Bias in the “hidden curriculum”.
Colorado League of Charter Schools (CLCS)
Denver, Colorado
Dr. Griffen is partnering with the Colorado League of Charter Schools to deliver a five-part Diversity Equity and Inclusion (DEI) Professional Development Series for the 2019-2020 school year. Each session will provide a unique scholarship and research lens combined with a practitioner lens , including clear applications for daily interaction with culturally different adults and students. This DEI series is specifically and uniquely designed for Colorado League of Charter Schools personnel to include Chief Executive Officers (CEOs), Chief Talent Officers (CTOs), Chief Operating Officers (COOs), Chiefs of Staff, School Directors, Leadership Teams, Parents, and School Personnel.
Teachers College - Columbia University
New York, New York
Dr. Griffen is partnering with the Teachers College of Columbia University to provide educational leadership coaching to educational leadership interns. This is a one year internship that will include onsite and offsite coaching as well as mentoring throughout the school year as an extension of the Teachers College Summer Principal Academy
Highline Academy Charter Schools
Denver, Colorado
Dr. Griffen partners with Highline Academy to provide educational leadership coaching and Diversity Equity and Inclusion capacity and skills building. Services include work with school leadership teams and school personnel.
